Lightning Strike, Ballingeary, Co. CorkWe get very few proper thunderstorms in Ireland. The odd rumble, a distant flash, maybe a half hearted crack that sends the dog under the table. But genuine, sustained electrical storms are rare here, and when one rolled into Ballingeary on this particular evening, it felt like something borrowed from another climate entirely. I'd been watching it build from the house, lightning playing across the mountains to the south and west. The kind of display I
